Sumatra is Indonesia's second-largest island, and it’s filled with mineral-rich soil and diverse plant life. Grown in the shady slopes of Mount Leuser––near Pandang in the Batak area of Aceh––the Sumatra Mandheling coffee bean is born in the most mineral-rich land available in the world––volcanic soil. In addition to coming from an ideal coffee-growing environment, this bean cultivates in one of the world’s most ancient ecosystems. Its namesake is the result of a language barrier in the culturally diverse climate.
